Just recently, only a week ago, we experienced a partial lunar eclipse and witnessed a dark cloud taking a “bite” out of the Moon and in the coming week there will be a solar eclipse.
This coincidence of two eclipses –one of the Sun and one of the Moon –so close to one another in time, is actually no coincidence at all!
An “eclipse season” happens twice a year. During these times, which occur at intervals of approximately half a year one from the other, the Earth, Sun and Moon are in alignment, like a billiards table, and they then eclipse one another. A lunar eclipse occurs on the night of a full moon- when Earth is positioned between the Sun and the Moon, and a solar eclipse occurs at the beginning of a new lunar month, the “new moon “ (when there is ‘no’ moon), and then we can actually see the Moon’s shadow on the face of the Sun. Sometimes in an eclipse season we witness additional eclipses of those planets that align on the same billiards table, like the one that occurred last year when Venus transited across the face of the Sun in a rare eclipse.
If we look at this in depth, we see that last year the first eclipse season occurred in June and this year in May, and actually each year the eclipse season regresses a month – that is, even when it happens each time in a different astrological realm, it is according to the order, but backwards! And even this, of course, has much significance.
Where and How can We View the Eclipse this Year?
This year there will be ring-like eclipse, or Annular eclipse. This means that the moon will not completely cover the Sun, but will leave a ring of light around the Moon. The eclipse can be seen in its entirety in Australia, Eastern Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and the Gilbert Islands. Apart from that, it will be possible to see parts of the eclipse also in Indonesia, Oceania, and most of the Central Pacific Ocean.
The eclipse will begin at 22:33 UT (Universal Time) in Australia and from there it will start to move across the other locations mentioned above, and will end at 02:20 UT. In each one of these places the annular eclipse will be visible for only a very few minutes.

Astrological Significance of the Eclipse and a Window of Opportunity
The Sun and the Moon are an opposing astrological pair, like the Yin and Yang, like a man and a woman… the Sun symbolizes the world of our consciousness, our ability to consciously guide the chariot of our life to the destiny we desire, our mature side, our rational side. The Moon, on the other hand, symbolizes all of those unconscious strengths that control us, for better or for worse. On the positive side of the moon, we can discover softness, femininity and intuition, but the negative side reveals to us all of our fears, the unconscious psychologies that sometimes shift us from our desired path, and even issues from previous lives that control us against our will.
During the eclipse, our conscious side “disappears” for a few moments, when our unconscious side casts a shadow on it.
There is a very good reason why many cultures considered an eclipse to be a frightening occurrence, and the bearer of bad tidings, for an eclipse is a time when reason is not around and our ‘demons’ rise up to take control over us…
However, if we view every astrological process as an opportunity for development, we understand that an eclipse also holds two wonderful possibilities:
The first possibility is to do with our ability to see our demons and to confront them. When the fears, worries, anger and all of their unpleasant friends that are found within us come out – this is an opportunity to see them and to get to know them. Things that are “dark” do not like the light! The moment we see them, they can no longer control us through our sub-conscious. Therefore, a lunar eclipse can provide a special opportunity to release ourselves from all of those things in us, an opportunity to move them from our subconscious to our consciousness.
The second possibility lies within our potential to touch all of those higher things that the moon is connected to, without our intellect becoming involved. Thus, the time of the eclipse may be an especially wonderful time to give our positive subconscious, our intuition and our natural instincts some space – for creativity, softness, and femininity.
And by the way – the special process that is connected with the eclipse and the windows of opportunity do not occur only at the moment of the eclipse, but they reach their peak and end there! The dominance of the subconscious on our logic ( for better or for worse) and this unique cosmic window of opportunity opened before us now , can already be felt and experienced!
